The baseball world was already on to the sky's-the-limit potential of right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg of San Diego State.
The junior was the only college player on the United States baseball team's roster and he struck out 23 batters in one game this year for the Aztecs.
Oh, and he also throws the ball at 103 miles per hour.
To put the final exclamation point on his college career, Strasburg pitched a no-hitter against Air Force, striking out 17 along the way.

Tornado-like winds crushed the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility Saturday, injuring a dozen people, including special teams coach Joe DeCamillas, the son-in-law of Dan Reeves.

After trading up from pick No. 21 to 19, the Eagles had a shot at tightend Brandon Pettigrew, but instead, the Birds went for highly touted receiver Jeremy Maclin, out of Missouri.

The NFL Draft is Saturday, April 25, and many draft gurus and local fans are expecting the Birds to make Knowshon Moreno the team's first-round pick at NO. 21.

Cuttino Mobley, whose NBA career was ended earlier this season, will be honored with the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's Native Son Award at the Association's 105th annual Award Dinner.
