Brad Lidge named PSWA’s Outstanding Pro Athlete
When you’re perfect, you have to be the best.
Brad Lidge was perfect in 2008, 41 saves in 41 opportunities during the regular season and then seven more in the post-season.
And that’s why Brad Lidge will be honored at the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association’s 105th annual Award Dinner as the Outstanding Professional Athlete of 2008.
Lidge’s perfection from the bulllpen was a major reason the Phillies never lost a late-inning lead, and his ninth-inning save in Game 5 of the World Series has already been etched in the memory of every Philadelphia sports fan. He was the man on the mound for every key moment of the Phillies’ glorious 2008 season.
Brad Lidge will be on the mound again to accept the Outstanding Pro Athlete Award at the Sports Writers Dinner on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Route 70 in Cherry Hill.
Among the other celebrities with him will be his manager Charlie Manuel, Living Legend Bernie Parent, Humanitarian Adam Taliaferro, Outstanding Amateur Athlete Mike Washington, Army-Navy game MVP Shun White, Frank Dolson/Penn Relays Award winner LaTavia Thomas, former 76er Darryl Dawkins and outstanding athletes from every college in the area.
Tickets are available to the public for $75, and can be purchased by clicking here.
