Quarterback Ricky Dobbs, who led his Naval Academy team to a 17-3 victory over Army in the annual Army-Navy game at Lincoln Financial Field, will be honored at the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association’s 106th annual Awards Dinner on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010.
In what has become an Philly tradition, the PSWA honors the Most Valuable Players in Army-Navy games held in the City of Brotherly Love.
In Navy’s win, Dobbs set the NCAA Division I record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.
When he dove in from the one with a little more than six minutes left in the game, it was Dobb’s 25th rushing touchdown. That score broke the record previously held by Florida’s Tim Tebow (2007) and Air Force’s Tim Harridge (2002).
Dobbs, who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season, will be one of the athletes honored at the Philly Sports Writers’ annual dinner.
The PSWA awards dinner will be held at the Crowne Plaza on Route 70 in Cherry Hill. Tickets are $75. Click here to order tickets online.
