Fifty years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles won the NFL championship with a 17-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

She was not a major recruit when she entered Drexel University as a freshman, but Gabriela Marginean has proven to be a major player in Philadelphia college basketball.

Andrew Bailey, the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association's 2010 Native Son award-winner, was named the American League Rookie of the Year after his incredible season with the Oakland Athletics.

Andrew Bailey, a hard-throwing right-hander out of Paul VI High School in South Jersey and now the closer for the Oakland Athletics, will receive the Philadelphia Sports Writers Associations' "Native Son" award at the organization's annual sports awards banquet on Monday night, Feb. 1, 2010.
